About this test

Key Benefits

What This Test Measures

This test measures your body’s IgE antibody response to:

Cow’s milk (milk proteins)
Egg white

An elevated IgE response may indicate a true allergic reaction, where the immune system reacts to specific proteins in these foods.

Milk Allergy, Intolerance and Symptoms

It is important to distinguish between different conditions:

Milk Allergy:
An immune reaction (IgE) to milk proteins (casein and whey). Individuals usually need to avoid all dairy products.
Typical symptoms: Abdominal pain, diarrhea or constipation, vomiting, skin reactions (eczema), runny nose

Lactose Intolerance:
Caused by a lack of the enzyme lactase, leading to difficulty digesting lactose (milk sugar). Many can tolerate lactose-free products.
Typical symptoms: Bloating, gas, diarrhea, abdominal pain

Milk Intolerance:
A non-immune reaction, which may cause symptoms such as bloating, gas, fatigue, or headaches.
Typical symptoms: Digestive issues, fatigue, headaches, or skin symptoms

Common symptoms of milk or egg allergy may include:

Cross-reactivity is common in allergies. A broader test covering multiple allergens can help provide a more complete overview of potential triggers.

How It Works and Important to Know

Order Your Kit: Purchase your test online.
Collect Your Sample: Take a finger-prick blood sample at home and place a few drops on the collection card.
Send It Back: Mail your sample to the laboratory.

This method is quick and easy to perform.

For the most accurate results, it is recommended that you have had recent exposure within the last 3 months to milk and/or egg, as this ensures your immune response is detectable.

ISO-Certified Lab and Analysis

Your sample is analyzed at an ISO-certified laboratory using ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay), ensuring accurate and reliable results.

How to prepare

For the most accurate results, it is recommended that you have been exposed to the allergens within the last 3 months, as this ensures your immune response is detectable. 2-4 weeks before: Eat/be in contact with the items you want to GetTested for. 24 hours before: Avoid alcohol, caffeine, intense exercise and smoking.

Frequently asked questions

How does it work? / When do I get my results?

1. Order and receive your kit. 2. Perform the test. 3. Send a sample at the beginning of the week (to avoid delays). 4. Results digitally in 10–15 business days.

Do I need to eat milk or eggs before the test?

While you do not need to consume massive amounts, it is generally recommended that you have not completely excluded these foods from your diet for a long period before testing, as the body needs to have been exposed to the allergen to produce detectable IgE antibodies.

Does this test include both egg white and egg yolk?

The test measures IgE antibodies against egg white specifically, as it contains the most allergenic proteins. However, because it is difficult to completely separate the white from the yolk in cooking, those with an egg white allergy are typically advised to avoid eggs entirely.
