How It Works
1. Collect Your Sample

Vaginal Swab Sample Collection
The sample is collected using the included vaginal swab. The swab is gently inserted into the vagina to collect vaginal fluid, then applied to the pH test area.
A colour change appears on the test area and is compared with the included pH scale to estimate the vaginal pH level.
What the Result Can Tell You
A vaginal pH within the expected acidic range usually supports a healthy vaginal environment.
An elevated pH may suggest that the vaginal environment has shifted and may be associated with bacterial imbalance, such as bacterial vaginosis. However, pH alone does not confirm the cause of symptoms.
Biomarkers included
- Vaginal pH: Vaginal pH refers to the acidity level of the vaginal environment, which normally ranges from 3.8 to 4.5. This slightly acidic balance, maintained largely by lactic acid–producing Lactobacilli, helps support healthy bacterial populations and protect against harmful microbes. Shifts in vaginal pH can increase the risk of infections and other gynecological conditions.
How to prepare
Wait at least **72 hours** after using vaginal products, including contraceptive products, antifungal treatments, suppositories, creams, gels or vaginal washes. Wait at least **48 hours** after sexual intercourse before testing. Wait at least **5 days after menstruation** has ended before testing. Avoid washing or showering the vaginal area immediately before testing, as this may affect the result. Follow the included instructions carefully before collecting your sample.
Frequently asked questions
What does a high pH result mean?
A normal vaginal pH level is typically between 3.8 and 4.5. If your test result shows a color corresponding to a pH higher than 4.5, it indicates that your vaginal environment is less acidic than it should be, which is often associated with bacterial vaginosis.
When should I use the Vaginal pH Test?
It is recommended to use the test if you notice symptoms such as an unusual or foul-smelling odor, changes in the color or consistency of vaginal discharge, or general discomfort. It is also useful for monitoring your balance after finishing a treatment for an infection.
Are there factors that can affect the test results?
To ensure accuracy, do not perform the test during menstruation or within 24 hours after sexual intercourse. Additionally, avoid using vaginal creams, gels, or douches for at least 72 hours before taking the sample, as these products can temporarily alter your pH levels.
